David C. Virissimo Lifetime Memorial Scholarship

David C. Virissimo was a cornerstone of the Virissimo Family and involved in the wider Portuguese and San Diego Communities. He involved himself in every aspect of his life as he volunteered his time and means coaching and umpiring for local Little Leagues, the U.P.S.E.S. Festa, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Madeleine Sophie's Center.

To honor the memory of his dedication to others, his family and friends began the David C. Virissimo Memorial Golf Tournament in 2017. David was an avid golfer, thus holding a tournament in his name was a perfect fit. The tournament and auction's proceeds benefit St. Madeleine Sophie's Center through the David C. Virissimo Lifetime Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship fund was created to honor David's memory and recognize his daughter Alyssa who has attended SMSC since 2012. It is designed specifically to assist adults with developmental disabilties to increase their self-determination and improve their own independence. The funds raised by the tournament in David’s name work toward covering the shortfall in funding that many students need to remain in the program.
